I have been working in HR for about 10 years. I love it. I love the challenges and the new ideas and most of all, I love making people happy. It may sound trite, but the look on someone’s face when they understand their health benefits, or the response of a frustrated employee who finally feels that someone is listening, or better yet, the smile on someone’s face when their achievements are recognized- those moments are why I do what I do.
Most, but not all, of my experience has been in small companies. I find that smaller companies have a greater ability to be flexible and creative. However, I am waiting for that large company that proves me wrong!
All in all, the greatest satisfaction in my career is going home at night knowing that I made at least one person’s day at least a little bit better.
